Staying with a family is the most beneficial in terms of learning about the culture and practicing English. Students can share the same house with a family in single or double rooms and become part of an existing system/structure. They can have breakfast and dinner included, spend more time with an English family, and have the opportunity to learn the culture closely. It is also more budget-friendly. Student apartments are the most suitable option for students who want to be more comfortable and independent.
Choose BLS English for summer junior courses in a safe, traditional English town. Bury Language School English is a professionally run school that is fully accredited to the highest standards.
The one thing that makes school special is the quality of their host accommodation. This is very important for summer junior courses. BLS hosts care and help you to relax and enjoy your course. The school believes that accommodation can be an area of concern and apprehension so Bury Language School can assure you that we put a lot of time and effort into choosing the best. The school inspects and check all hosts according to British Council guidelines. This includes DBS checks.
Students will be either walking to school or driven both to and from school. Time to school is a maximum of 30 minutes and there are no extra costs for being driven by the host. If walking, hosts will accompany them on the first day to make sure students are comfortable with the walk.
Host or Residential accommodation is available throughout the summer. On registration you can tell us if you have any special requests and BLS team will try its hardest for you. Most juniors will have the chance to share a room with a student from another country. This gives you the chance to speak more English. While you are here, BLS team will talk to you to ensure you are settling in and happy with the accommodation. We regularly inspect our host accommodation and it meets British Council standards. Hosts live 10-30 minutes’ walk from the junior centre or hosts will drive in and out each day.
BLS understand that some students will experience new emotions such as homesickness. This is why we have a full-time dedicated team for our younger learners, to support and guide where needed. All individual junior students will be assigned a member of BLS staff for support and questions throughout the stay. Parents may also need to speak to a member of the BLS welfare team if they are worried or have a question. We are here to help and have an emergency 24-hour phone line.
